Philological Restoration & Reconstruction of Historic Flooring – Private
Residence, Seregno

Project Overview:
Philological restoration and reconstruction of historic marble flooring located in the entrance area and elevator landing. Following material decay and structural alterations, the surfaces were fully recomposed and integrated, starting from sub-base excavation and structural substrate consolidation.
Key Highlights:
● Hand Craftsmanship & Historic Laying Technique: Fabrication of a geometric
meander border (greca) and a central field in micro-palladiana. Both techniques
required individual hand-cutting and shaping of tesserae on all four sides to adhere
strictly to period-accurate layouts, flows, and sizing.
● Material Selection & Color-Matched Grouting: Recomposition utilizing selected
fine marbles, including Bianco Carrara, Rosso Verona, Giallo Siena, and Grigio
Bardiglio. Joint grouting was executed using a custom mixture precisely matched to
the original color, ensuring seamless chromatic and visual continuity between historic
and integrated sections.
