Perimeter Reconstruction & Re-Proportioning – Historic Residence, District of
Silence, Milan

Project Overview:
Redesign and spatial re-proportioning of historic bathroom flooring within a period estate in Milan's prestigious District of Silence (Quadrilatero del Silenzio). The intervention focused on reconstructing deteriorated perimeters and adapting the original pattern onto an elevated
floor section, creating a cohesive stone inset carpet aligned with existing architectural
features.
Key Highlights:
● Perimeter Reconstruction & Structural Adaptation: Comprehensive
reconstruction of perimeter borders and pattern recalibration across elevated floor
levels to preserve the historical geometry of the original layout.
● Grigio Bardiglio Ingress Extension: Inset extension crafted using Grigio Bardiglio
marble at the entryway threshold to establish spatial symmetry and proportion
between adjoining rooms.
● Polychrome Marble Selection & Matrix Grouting: Use of Grigio Carnico, Nero
Assoluto, and Nero Marquinia for perimeter framing, combined with a warm-toned
field mix (Giallo Mori, Botticino, Rosa Corallo, Bronzetto). Finished with a custom
color-matched cementitious grouting matrix to unify the composition.
