Philological Restoration & Reintegration of Late 19th-Century Artistic
Palladiana Flooring – Corso Venezia, Milan

Project Overview: Philological restoration and material reintegration of a high-value artistic Palladiana marble floor within a late 19th-century palace on Corso Venezia. The conservation intervention restored original structural integrity and aesthetic vibrance to a surface characterized by significant chromatic and architectural importance. Key Highlights: ● Precious Marbles & Fragment Salvage: The original composition incorporates rare marble varieties: Giallo Siena, Verde Alpi, Arabescato Orobico Rosso, and Fior di Pesco. Structural reintegration utilized authentic historical fragments recovered from site excavations, paired with newly sourced inserts custom-matched for tone and veining. ● Grout Mix Sampling & Calibration: The grouting phase was preceded by extensive sampling to match both the exact chromatic shade and aggregate grain of the historical binder. This meticulous process rendered restored areas visually seamless following final grinding. ● Grinding, Polishing & Surface Protection: The restoration concluded with full on-site grinding and polishing, followed by the application of a protective hydro-repellent surface treatment.
